Data annotation services

Data annotation and labeling services with a vetted workforce

trainee.digital is a data labeling company built as a marketplace: you post the dataset, set the price per unit, and only people who passed our scored annotation assessment can take the work. Payments are escrow-backed and release when you approve.

How the cost is calculated

There is no opaque quote. You choose the unit and the price per unit; the platform adds a flat 10% fee. The total is shown on the review screen before you publish.

Worked example of the pricing model used on the order form. Rates on open orders today range $0.35–$0.90 per unit depending on difficulty.
LineExample orderAmount
Volume5,000 pages5,000 units
Your price per unit$0.12 per page×
Work subtotal5,000 × $0.12$600.00
Platform fee10% of subtotal$60.00
Total funded into escrow$660.00
  • Higher per-unit rates attract performers faster; you set the trade-off between speed and cost.
  • Premium (\u201cserious\u201d) orders can be posted with a fixed reward instead of per-unit pricing — used for specialist work.
  • Funding is by bank transfer request from the client dashboard; the request is recorded with a pending status until reconciled.

Volumes, formats and delivery

  • Batch size: orders on the platform today run from a few hundred to several thousand units; larger programs are split into milestones so review stays manageable.
  • Input: you host the source data and share access (e.g. a link to a bucket or folder) — we do not require uploading your dataset to us.
  • Output: labels delivered as JSON or CSV per batch, plus the annotator notes on flagged units.
  • Guidelines: you supply the label set and the rubric; the order screen keeps them attached to every unit, and the minimum accepted quality score is stated in the order.
  • Anonymisation: sensitive data (e.g. medical scans) must be anonymised before it reaches the platform — see our Privacy Policy.

Escrow-backed milestone payments: how money moves

  • You fund the order before work starts. Funds sit in escrow on the platform and are not paid to performers at that moment.
  • Work is delivered per milestone. You review the delivered batch against the order guidelines.
  • Funds release only when you approve the milestone. If you reject it with a reason, the batch is reworked or the milestone is cancelled and the escrowed amount stays with you.
  • Performer balances become withdrawable after approval. Minimum withdrawal is $100; requests are processed manually with the payout details the performer submits.
  • Disputes follow our Dispute Resolution process: email first, then a review of the submission, order requirements and platform records.

Quality control on our side

Every performer who can accept your order has passed a scored 50-unit assessment reviewed by a person, with a 70% passing bar on accuracy, consistency and completeness. Vetting is one attempt and cannot be skipped — the order feed is locked until it is passed.

FAQ from clients

What is the turnaround?

It depends on the rate and volume you set: the order carries your own deadline (open orders today run 4–10 days for 800–3,000 units). We do not promise a delivery date the market cannot meet — if a batch is not picked up, raise the per-unit rate or reduce scope.

Do I pay before seeing any work?

You fund escrow before work starts, but funds release only when you approve a milestone. Rejected work is reworked or the milestone is cancelled and the escrowed amount stays with you.

Can I run a paid pilot first?

Yes — post a small order (a few hundred units) with the same guidelines. That is the honest way to measure our quality on your data.

Who are the annotators?

A vetted crowd, entry-level to expert. Everyone passes the same assessment; specialists are additionally routed to premium orders.

What about NDA and data handling?

Write to support@trainee.digital with your requirements before posting. Data you host stays with you; we store the labels and order metadata.
